For me, it’s all about the process. What does the space require? What is the ideal floor plan that will enhance the space and maximize circulation, taking into account the site’s features and intended function? Then there are the client’s aspirations and needs, and how to best fulfill those. And of course, there is my experience and judgment as a designer and architect. All of these must somehow come together to produce something effortless and beautiful.
I begin by coming to a clear understanding of the design concept with the client so there is a fusion of ideas. I do the rest.
I keep things light, not too serious, and look for simple solutions to awkward design conditions so the final product is not overly stylized or polished. Nothing should be superfluous.
