When longtime clients requested a small guesthouse for their farm, the unfinished space above their 750-square-foot (70-sq-m) detached garage was repurposed. The main house had been renovated and expanded 30 years earlier, but now that the kids were grown with families of their own, the owners wanted a more private space for them when they visited.
The new one bedroom is a standalone apartment, with a large living area, a small kitchenette, and a full bathroom. In addition to hosting family, it also serves as a destination home office for the owners.
